- At the 1960 U.S. Open, Arnie made one
- of golfΓÇÖs most amazing comebacks. As
- in most pro tournaments, golfers in the
- U.S. Open play four rounds of 18 holes
- each, one round each day. Arnie was
- seven shots behind leader Mike
- Souchak going into the final round. But
- then, with his army of fans behind him,
- Arnie began one of his famous charges.
- He made six birdies over the first seven
- holes. (Par is the number of shots a
- hole is expected to played in. A birdie is
- a score of one under par. ) Arnie went
- on to shoot an amazingly low score of
- 65 for the round and won the title.
